Horalas and Abdullah: Two stars of the international course come together!
A Trakehner stallion could hardly be more elite in sport and as clearly focused on the international show jumping circuit as Donausturm: In Germany he is currently the only licensed son of Horalas, the two-time Lithuanian National Champion and World Cup Qualifier. In addition, Horalas has had great success in North America under the saddle of Hap Hansen, winning the USD 25,000 Oaks Spring Classic Grand Prix, the USD 35,000 Oaks Blenheim Summer Festival Grand Prix and the USD 25,000 Memorial Day Classic Grand Prix in Los Angeles. He has placed in numerous Grand Prix, including sixth in the ATB Financial Cup (160 cm) at the famous Spruce Meadows. His lifetime earnings total more than USD 120,000. He competed in the toughest courses for many years and finished his career without any health problems. In 2010, with over 30 victories in international show jumping and a large number of placings, he received the recognition of being entered in the Trakehner Verband’s stallion book I. The success story of his maternal grandsire Abdullah is just as glamorous: The sporting track record of the gold medallist (team) and silver medallist (individual) of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 1984 boasts further highlights, such as individual silver at the World Championships in Aachen in 1986 (where he
was best horse of the World Championships), World Cup winner in Berlin in 1985, multiple Nations Cup winner, winner of the Grand Prix of Cleveland (1980), Detroit (1982), Boston and Rome (1983) as well as winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup Grand Prix. Abdullah, too, retired in good health. Donausturm comes from one of the most valuable and successful dynasties of mares in Trakehner breeding worldwide. It is rooted in the main Trakehnen stud and, beyond that, in the legendary Weil-Marbach Arabian thoroughbred stud. His lineage includes sire legends such as Königspark xx by Prince Ippi xx, who is also highly renowned in Holstein sport horse breeding, as well as Ibikus, Habicht and Poet xx, who are also among the great heroes of the Trakehner sires in sport. Donausturm is related to the licensing and Grand Prix winner Donauruf, the reserve winner and stallion performance test winner Dürrenmatt, the performance sire Donauschimmer (DK and USA), the sporty premium stallion Donauwalzer, the advanced (S) level dressage horses Dernier Cri and Diabolo as well as the advanced (S) level show jumpers Donoon, Dakapo and Dynamit. Donausturm was awarded “Best Jumping Stallion” at the Trakehner Stallion Market in 2017 and in 2019 successfully passed the stallion performance test (50 day test, jumping focus) in Stadl Paura with a weighted dressage final score of 7.99.
