B Offspring

“Pride”
You buy a fine foal from a breeder—the offspring of a stallion you yourself once rode. The foal grows up healthy under your own care; though he remains a bit on the small side—standing just 162 cm even now—he is, in return, a magnificent individual with a huge heart.

You and your own father bought his sire together when the stallion was a three-year-old, and you subsequently rode him yourself, successfully competing up to the 1.50-meter level.

When your own daughter—then just 15—tells you she would like to train this horse herself, you hesitate at first; after all, he had unseated you a few times back when he was a four-year-old, as he tends to be a bit skittish.
But eventually, you agree to let her do it, simply because she asks you to.

And now, you are filled with pride—because this very horse, at the young age of eight, giving his absolute all alongside your 18-year-old daughter in his very first 1.45-meter show jumping class, goes on to win the special honorary prize for the best Bavarian horse.
Bravo, Emma.
Bravo, Castro B (by Cullinan du Borget B).

This is a life story—the kind that only horses can gift us—and one that we should remind ourselves of time and again.

Your Dad,
Tobias
