Stud service conditions and rates 2026

1. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• • Breeding Season: The breeding season begins on February 15 and ends on September 1 of each year, unless otherwise agreed between the breeder and the stallion owner.
  • Acknowledgment of Terms: By ordering semen, you acknowledge the breeding regulations, payment terms, and the insemination contract.
  • Proof of Parentage: Proof of parentage and/or the breeding certificate must be submitted before the first covering.
  • Viewing Stallions: A visit to the station stallions is possible by prior telephone appointment.
  • Prices: All stated breeding fees, shipping costs, and prices are net prices plus the applicable statutory VAT.

 

2. STABLE STAYS

• • Box Prices: Boxes with regular turnout in paddocks are available:
    • Mare without foal: €30/day
    • Mare with foal: €35/day
  • Discount for Guest Mares: Mares that are bred with a station-owned stallion receive a 10% discount for their stay.
    
  • Processing Fee: For external stallions, €150 per cycle.
  • Swab Test: A swab test before insemination is required.
  • Veterinary Costs: Will be billed separately.

 

3. SEMEN ORDERING AND SHIPPING

Semen orders can be placed by phone (+49 (0) 85 61 / 14 00), via email (info@hengststation-bachl.de), or through the semen order form on our website (www.hengststation-bachl.de).

• • Order Times for Germany:
    • Mon-Fri: 8:00-10:00 AM
    • Sat: 7:30-9:00 AM

• • Order Times for Abroad: Mon-Thu until 9:00 AM (except Austria, where shipping is also possible on Friday if ordered by 9:00 AM)
  • No shipping will occur on Sundays and public holidays. Self-pickup is possible by arrangement (1:00-5:00 PM). It is recommended to clarify shipping early with the office.

Please take these days into account when planning.

 

IMPORTANT: The delivered semen may only be used for the registered mare! A change of mare must be requested.

 

• • Fresh Semen Portions: Up to three portions of fresh semen will be sent per cycle (maximum of three cycles). An exception is made for the stallion Vingino, for which a maximum of two portions per cycle applies.
  • Logistics Company: Shipping is carried out by an external company. Hengststation Bachl assumes no liability for timely and undamaged delivery.
  • Shipping Costs: The costs for semen shipping are borne by the breeder and must be inquired separately from the stallion owner.
  • Health Papers: The health papers required by EU animal breeding law (Traces) for shipping semen abroad are also at the breeder’s expense and will be charged at €60.    Important: We require the registered address and number of your veterinary office in the Traces system. This address must be registered and activated in the “Traces” system before shipping can occur. Without this information, no shipping can take place.
  • Stallion Availability: If a stallion is not available during the breeding season for special reasons (e.g., tournament participation, illness), TG semen may be used or a stallion change offered.
  • Semen Use Confirmation: For each semen shipment, the semen use confirmation must be filled out and returned immediately (also possible via fax or email). The mare owner commits to returning all semen use confirmations by September 15 at the latest.
  • Insemination Certificate: For insemination agents or self-inseminators, a copy of the insemination certificate is required before the first insemination.

 

4. BREEDING FEES AND OTHER TERMS

• • Payment Terms: The first installment of the breeding fee is due in advance with the initial order.
  • Shipping Abroad: International shipments are only made against prepayment of the first installment of the breeding fee, shipping costs, and any required official veterinary certificate (Traces). Please register your address in the European Traces database. Your address must be valid, otherwise we cannot send you seeds.
  • Invoicing: Invoices are to be paid within 10 days from the invoice date. This does not apply to the first installment of the breeding fee that must be paid in advance. If payment deadlines are exceeded, the invoice amount will increase by an administrative fee as well as any collection costs incurred, both judicial and extrajudicial. Only one discount or voucher can be redeemed per breeding fee/invoice.
  • Pregnancy Acceptance: If we do not receive feedback on pregnancy within eight weeks after shipment, pregnancy will automatically be assumed and the second installment / the pregnancy rate will be invoiced.
  • Due Dates for Installments: On September 15, all outstanding pregnancy installments will automatically become due and invoiced.
  • Proof of Non-Pregnancy: To recognize non-pregnancy, a veterinarian-confirmed proof must be submitted by September 30 of the breeding year.
  • Breeding Certificate: The issuance of the breeding certificate and its transfer to the respective breeding association occurs only after all breeding fee invoices have been settled and all other incurred costs have been balanced.
  • Contractual Penalty for Unauthorized Use: Only one foal may be conceived per breeding fee. In case of unauthorized use of semen (e.g., insemination of unregistered mares or failure to report a successful embryo transfer), an additional contractual penalty of €2500 will be imposed along with any outstanding amounts.

 

5. SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Important: For mares that have successfully produced offspring measuring 1.30 m or higher or whose offspring measure 1.30 m or higher successfully, we grant a discount of 10% on each installment. Please note this in writing with your order.

 

6. FROZEN SEMEN (TG SEMEN)

• • Ownership and Use: The TG semen remains property of Hengststation Bachl. In case of non-use, the semen must be returned to us. Transfer to third parties or use on non-designated mares is not permitted.
  • Return of Straws: The mare owner commits to returning all unused straws from frozen semen within 14 days after knowledge of successful insemination to Hengststation Bachl. Shipping costs are borne by the mare owner.
  • Usage Confirmations: The accompanying usage confirmations must be filled out and signed by a veterinarian or insemination technician and returned to us immediately after insemination along with empty straws.
  • Shipping Costs: For shipping frozen semen in a container from Hengststation Bachl, we charge a rental fee as well as a nitrogen fee.
  • Return of Shipping Containers: Shipping containers and frozen containers must be returned insured and sufficiently stamped within three days. In case of late return of frozen containers, we reserve the right to organize return transport after four days at the expense of the mare owner. The customer is liable for undamaged return shipping of containers.
  • Portion Sale: For purchasing frozen semen, please contact our office.

 

7. EMBRYO TRANSFER, ICSI AND OTHER ADVANCED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNIQUES

• Notification Obligation: A embryo transfer or ICSI must be communicated to us in advance and is only permitted after prior consultation with our office and a written agreement. Embryos obtained from fresh or frozen semen must be paid for in the year the semen is provided.

 

8. LIVE FOAL GUARANTEE

This measure serves to support breeders.

• • Payment Terms: The first installment is payable in advance. The second installment becomes due when a live foal is reported within 48 hours after birth.
  • Birth Notification: The breeder is obliged to report the birth of the foal within 48 hours.

 

This applies to stallions VIGARO, SANVARO, LIMBOTHELLO B and TAYCAN B in 2026.
